The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) & FHRAI (Federation of Hotels & Restaurant Association of India) had challenged the decision in High Court. Delhi High Court has passed interim order that Service charges should be replaced by terminology Staff Contribution & shall not exceed 10% excluding GST. However, NRAI has said Service Charges was the accepted norm. The matter will be heard on 03 Oct 2023.

Jun 2019 -High Court directed to reduce it from 16% as recommended by State Backward Cat Commission. May 2021-Supreme Court passed order to withdraw Maratha reservation declaring it unconstitutional. Recently due to Maratha Agitations all over the Maharashtra, CM Eknath Shinde has constituted a panel which will submit report as how the Marathas from Marathwada region can be included in OBC Category & given Kumbi Caste Certificate, so that Supreme Court can be approached to withdraw May 2021 decision.
